Poplar Nature Watch Club First Outing

A rather wet and overcast day wasn't quite what we'd hoped for on our first nature watch outing, but it didn't deter our small group from enjoying and exploring the delights of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.
One of the loveliest discoveries of the day was a couple of varieties of fungi  - both so colourful and beautiful. Finding a woodpeckers nest was a nice surprise too - our monoculars came in handy for a close up look.

Our next outing will be on January 19th, location yet to be decided.
Keep an eye out here for details. Perhaps you would also like to suggest places to explore.

See you in January... :)

Join us on 24th November @ TH Cemetery Park

2 - 4pm - meeting at the Soanes Centre. (MAP)

Cemetery Park is a real jewel in Tower Hamlets' crown -  a designated Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. The cemetery resembles a natural woodland, with many bird and insect species making it their home.

Join us, Fran and Suke, as we tour this fascinating place, wandering slowly with our monoculars (supplied) watching out for wildlife, learning some of its history and enjoying the wild, peaceful surroundings..

We were just there today and were delighted to see wrens, green parakeets, a jay and a daring little fox cub.

Everyone (and their dog) is welcome, children need to be accompanied by an adult. Meet us there or drop us an email beforehand.
